Check Out This Author!

The newest edition to the blog: highlighting a different author a couple of times a month. What do you think? I knew you would agree.

What better way to launch this new feature than to begin with a friend. Donalyn Powell Parker. Just recently I was afforded the opportunity to spend personal time with Donalyn in her Southern Living home!
And what a beautiful home. With a beautiful family.

How did we meet? Our parents were friends forever ago. Say 50 plus years. Wow! My dad was their pastor and friend. Donalyn and I met for the first time just weeks ago. What a pleasure and blessing. It took us forever to find out about each other, but once we did, we immediately connected. First via email, then in person.

She might tell you that I had plenty of questions about how she got into writing. I love details, and I couldn't get enough from her. I could have listened for hours. She was very gracious in sharing how she came to be a published author. Quite an amazing story, I might add. I loved every minute of it. The only downside was that we didn't have more time.

I was fascinated to find that she didn't start out as an aspiring writer. Amazing. She just felt God leading her to "write", and she obeyed. In no time she was published. Did I say amazing?

Her books are mainly non-fiction. They have reached and brought healing to many.

Her newest adventure is writing fiction. She allowed me to take a peek behind the scenes of the draft. I didn't want to quit reading! I think you'll love what's ahead. I'll keep you posted.

When you get a chance, check out her website. You'll be pleased to find that not only is Donalyn a writer, and speaker, but also an artist. Go to the products page for more details. I love her greeting cards. She's left the inside blank so you can pen your own thoughts. I like that.

Looking behind the eyes of published authors can often give us fresh ideas on how to add punch to our writing skills. We need all the help we can get, right?
