Then a number of Dolly's songs that the Idol participants sang crooned out sentiments running deep of Jesus and God.
I chuckled when Dolly grinned and told Bryan Seacrest, "Well, I've got Jesus, and you've got Simon."
OK, so what's this have to do with GG? I guess I was just thinking how Jesus is WHO holds me up as I see Mom growing up in her senior years. Like this morning. We were sitting quietly reading the newspaper while munching on some tasty breakfast, when suddenly I heard a crash with a splash. Mom had knocked over her coffee. She has a habit of sitting it right on the edge of the table...not sure why...but it's her thing. While I have tried to help her to remember to not put it there, old habits take over and coffee spills. So the floor, walls, chairs, baseboards, were decorated in a rich chocolaty looking liquid. I grumbled to myself as I had just sat down and was enjoying my recently poured HOT coffee. I know I shouldn't have. Transparency here.
Anyway, I got up, ran over, got down on the floor to clean it up while she sat and watched. The coffee cup was broken. You might know it would be one of my favorite cups, but she liked the cup; so I always put her coffee in it.
I grumbled to myself over that....until I looked down at the cup and remembered why I loved the cup so much; it read:
"Rejoice for this is the day that the Lord has made."
And so I did.
